Mayor Skow Resigns Effective July 31, 2025
Council Elects Jesse Shoemake as New Mayor

Mayor Michael Skow submitted his resignation at the July 8, 2025 Ione City Council meeting. Mayor Skow indicated that he didn’t believe he had the time to dedicate to the position during the construction phase of the wastewater system.  He will remain on City Council. 

The Ione City Council elected Councilor Jesse Shoemake as Mayor-Elect.  He will assume the role of Mayor on August 1, 2025.  

The City of Ione Council members and staff would like to thank Mayor Skow for his hard work and dedication to the City of Ione.  We also welcome Mayor-Elect Shoemake to his new position.
