The City of Ione wins the CIS Small City “Excellence In Best Practices” for Safety at the League of Oregon Cities (LOC) Annual Conference.
The city staff consists of 2 FTE. The Public Works Director and City Administrator meet several times a week. When they have accidents, they investigate the cause and address the issues right away. Worker wellbeing is identified as a value/priority, and because they have only a few employees, they know how important keeping those employees safe and injury free is. Through their efforts, the City of Ione has only experienced one $1,228 claim since 2021 and have kept their time loss days to zero during that time.
